As most of you know, I am passionate about Wellness. Most every video or article I write has something to do with being a healthier person.
There is a reason I am so interested in taking care of myself and I thought I would share it with my friends. So here goes…
Back in 1992, I found a lump in my right breast. When I went to the doctor to have it checked out he told me to come back in 2 months. He said it was probably just a cyst and not to worry about it. Well do you think I was able to “Not worry about it?” NO. I went back in 1 month and told him to take it out.
Long story-short, it was a high grade, fast growing cancer. I had two surgeries to make sure they got it all and then 6 weeks of radiation. For 18 years now I have been what people call a “Breast Cancer Survivor”. The first 5 years were the scariest because that is the most crucial time for it to return. Now, the only reason I even think about it is because of the scar that was left behind.
It has made me change my view of taking care of myself. I am a big believer in taking the best care of this One Body and One Life that God has given me. I also always have my yearly mammograms, are you?
My daughter is considered a high risk because of my breast cancer and the fact that my grandmother died with it at 40 years of age. My daughter Meredith’s physician is having her start mammograms next year at the age of 29. Being proactive about Your Own Health is smart.
My daughter has decided to participate in a walk that raises money for Breast Cancer Research. I am very proud that she is doing this 3 day walk to raise money in my honor. The walk is 3 days because they walk for 60 miles. Go Here to read about that.
Each participant must raise $2300.00 or pay it themselves. That is the commitment the participants make when they sign up. If you would like to help with Breast Cancer Research and help my daughter meet her $2300.00 goal, please click this link, Donate To Meredith Lurty’s Team.
Thank you to my daughter, Meredith Lurty, for her willingness to even do this 3 day walk and thank you to all of you that donate to Breast Cancer Research. I love you Meredith. It touches my heart you are doing this walk.
God Bless!

Blessings on your wonderful daughter Meredith, and blessings on you, Beverly. As a recent survivor myself (lumpectomy, 6 wks of radiation), I am especially grateful to you both for taking these steps (literally, in Meredith’s case!) to fund Breast Cancer Research. Let’s stay in touch about all of this, OK?
