Wellness & Nutrition

Emotional eating is done by most everybody at some time in their life. Things happen that stress us out or just upset us and our brain starts encouraging you to make eating choices…Emotional Eating!!!

When that happens, Stop, take a deep breath, drink 8 ounces of water and pick up a pen and notebook. Write down what is making you feel stressed out. Remember your whys for meeting your weight loss or health goals. Write for at least 15 minutes and see if the urge goes away.  If it is truly hunger because you haven’t eaten in 3 hours choose wisely. If your ghrelin hormone levels are high you are feeling hunger. Eating every 3-31/2 hours will help keep the ghrelin levels low which is what you want to always do.

Also have a friend you can call to distract you from emotional eating. Tell them ahead of time that you may need them to help you break this emotional eating habit so when you call they are ready to help you.

Better choices for snacks:

Fresh celery, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, grape tomatoes or any colorful raw vegetable.

Raw almonds are a great choice too.
It all boils down to you and making the best choice so you never sabotoge yourself by letting your emotions get the upper hand. You can do it!

I do not know if I agree with your post here. While you do make a good point, I do not believe you have truly given a large amount of thought to the opposite side of the argument. Perhaps I can do a guest post or a follow-up, just tell me.

Great YouTube video. I could totally relate. I eat to celebrate accomplishments and to feel better better about emotion. You idea of writing things down is a great idea…distract and redirect. I started doing this after I picked up a book called Obesity Free Forever:Losing Weight from the Inside Out. It has really changed my life forever into a healthy lifestyle.

Thanks Betty. Emotional eating hurts many people and if I was able to help someone with an idea or two to control it, my blog was successful. Please come back again.
