What Is Your Achilles Heel?

Wellness & Nutrition

Do you have an Achilles Heel when it comes to sticking to your weight loss goals? If food is your problem, it’s time to understand calorie counting. Knowing your daily calorie consumption is important. You need to know if you are eating too much or not enough. Putting your body in starvation mode is not good at all. Read how another person(I’ll call them Bob) encourages himself and others.

“We all fall off the wagon, just hop back on. Forget about yesterday and start today by counting your calories. If you are not able to exercise at this time because of your accident or cold, then stay on top of your calories by counting them and staying within your caloric intake.
As for the heading out of town, plan ahead. Bring your own snacks. Planning is key to any party or out of town event. Eat something before you go to the retreat if you feel there won’t be any healthy options. This way you’ll be less likely to over eat. Remember that things, such as lettuce, are very low in calories just watch out for the dressing, croutons, cheese, and bacon bits. Try and drink 60-80 oz of water a day. The main thing to remember is to watch your calories if you’re not able to exercise.” Bob

Here’s one that may be a little different. When I get really focused, I will blow right through time without eating a thing. I don’t get hungry, so it never occurs to me to stop and get some nourishment. It is not until too much later that I find my body has slipped into starvation mode and my metabolism hits the skids.

It is hard to remember sometimes, but you have to “feed the beast” to keep the motor running.

    Thanks for your insights! Chip

    Chip,
I have a suggestion for you. If this is something you do often that is bad for your metabolism. When you starve yourself, even unintentionally your body will react. I suggest to my clients to set their phone alarm every 3 hours to ring. When it rings get up and get water and a snack. See if that helps you remember to eat. You are right you have to “feed the beast”. :)
    Thanks for the comment.
